Roy passed away in Bakersfield, Kern County, California at his home September 12, 2017. He passed quickly with no pain.
Roy was born March 16, 1947 in Muskogee, Muskogee County, Oklahoma to Ernest Millard Harris and Rhoda Lucille Adams Harris.
When he was about four years old, his family moved to Oildale, Kern County, California.
He went to North High School in Oildale, California.
He joined the U.S. Navy and served four years. He served on the USS William M. Wood. Then he served on the air craft carrier the USS Hancock doing two...

Roy was born March 16, 1947 in Muskogee, Muskogee County, Oklahoma to Ernest Millard Harris and Rhoda Lucille Adams Harris.
When he was about four years old, his family moved to Oildale, Kern County, California.
He went to North High School in Oildale, California.
He joined the U.S. Navy and served four years. He served on the USS William M. Wood. Then he served on the air craft carrier the USS Hancock doing two tours of Vietnam. He was very proud of his service to his country. He was very patriotic. He was married to Rebecca Fry Harris for 49 years. He was a stationary engineer in the US Navy. He was a stationary engineer at Georgia Pacific in Bellingham, Whatcom County, Washington and retired after 32 years.
He was a stationary engineer at Kern Medical Canter in Bakersfield, Kern County, California and retired after 11 years. He liked to sing and play the guitar.
He was preceded in death by: his parents Ernest Millard Harris and Rhoda Lucille Adams Harris DeWig and his step-father Jack DeWig, by his brother Wendell Robert Harris, by his brother Ronald Gene Harris, and by his sister Patricia Sue Harris Ross.
He is survived by his wife Rebecca Fry Harris, by his son Brian Harris and his wife Brittain, by his daughter Shannon Harris Lewis and her husband Dean.
He is survived by the following grandchildren: John Thowson Harris, Rainger Harris, Sarah Harris, Samantha Harris, Mariah Lewis and her husband Gabriel, Michael Lewis, Marissa Lewis.
He is survived by one brother Kenneth. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be laid to rest at the Bakersfield National Cemetery in Arvin, Kern County, California. He was a Christian with the faith and hope of an eternal life.
