Doris LaRusso passed away on June 12, 2017 in Bakersfield, California at the age of 91. She was born Naomi Doris Greene on March 5, 1926 in Ennis, Texas to Samuel Franklin Greene and Allie Drew Owen Greene. She had one older brother, Paul Greene. Doris grew up in Texas, living in Ennis, Bardwell and Palmer before moving to Washita, Oklahoma. Doris graduated from Tishomingo High School, Oklahoma in 1942. Soon afterward she moved with her parents to San Diego, California. She began waitressing at Glenn's Drive-In across the street from her home. That is where she met Alfred (Fred) John LaRusso, who was stationed in the United States Army close to the drive-in. Doris and Fred were married on December 19, 1943 in Yuma, Arizona. While Fred was in the Army, Doris lived with his family in New York, returning to California in 1945. She lived in South Gate, California in the late 1940's then moved to Whittier, California in 1950. Though she had been born Baptist, after meeting Fred she was baptized Catholic and was a faithful and devoted member of Saint Mary's parish in Whittier, California for many years. She held offices in St. Mary's Parents Club, St. Mary's Altar Society, and was a Regent for the Catholic Daughters Court #519.

Doris was a hard worker and held various employment positions in her lifetime. Her last position was as an eligibility worker for Los Angeles County. She retired from the county in 1987. Several years before her retirement, she and Fred moved to Tehachapi, California where her daughter Linda and her family lived. She became a member of St. Malachy's parish in Tehachapi and was one of the founding members of Catholic Daughters Court #2360. She served as the Regent for Catholic Daughters Court #2360 and as later as the Ways and Means Chairman. She was a true volunteer at her church and was awarded the Pope Benedict Benemerenti Service Award on November 3, 2006. She also volunteered at Tompkins Elementary School. Doris enjoyed sewing and excelled in many crafts making many items for St. Malachy's bazaars.

She is survived by three of her four children: daughter Linda Ann LaRusso Rankin, and son-in-law Dale Rankin, daughter Lucille Rae LaRusso Jurado Sorensen, and son-in-law Bill, and daughter Virginia (Ginny) LaRusso Krebs. She had 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Her family was very precious to her and she was always there for them. In 1997, at the age of 70, Doris was selected as the Tehachapi News Mother of the Year.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred, brother Paul, son Alfred, and son-in-law Randy Jurado.

The family would like to extend our grateful thanks to the caring staff at Clare Bridge Alzheimer's and Dementia Care in Bakersfield and the staff of Hoffman Hospice.
